Dreams and Baseball
(Top of the Inning)
by Reagan Rothe
Release Date: July 2008
The long-awaited baseball story, inspired by "Tex" Aulds, Walt Rothe, and Ryan Rothe, is drawing closer to a finish. Living the experience with the Alexandria Aces and Shreveport Sports, and from past stories and baseball experiences, Reagan Rothe brings it all out in this fiction masterpiece.
SYNOPSIS:
1999 was a year unlike any other for Jeff Hartes. He met the love of his life, experienced surreal, life-like dreams, and lost so much in a single, Triple-A season of baseball. The story unfolds beneath an elderly man (Hartes) remembering that magical season and sharing with the reader the reality of what baseball's truly like; the "inside the ropes" atmosphere and "behind the scenes" superstitions and bedlam.
This is a baseball tale that hasn't been told before, with brutal truths that carry with them a comedic outburst followed by a heart-shattering sadness. Up and down, life travels sometimes very similar to a baseball season. And comparable to real life, things don't always go perfectly and end with a fairy-tale closing.
Dreams and Baseball reviews...
"As soon as I opened up this novel, I swear on the remote control that the theme song from "Bang the Drum Slowly" started and didn't stop until I put it down. This is a baseball book. One of those novels that shows us how the game of baseball was made for print fiction and vice-versa. Rothe has a terrific way with detail; I swear I was in a time machine as he zoomed me back to 1999 and all sorts of popular culture bombarded me. The novel
ended and I found myself in a very long seventh inning stretch with three dreaded words on the last page, "to be continued..." Guess I'll have to wait for the last out. Being a long suffering Cleveland Indians fan, I have the patience."

Like.
We were running Hitler.
Mind control with LSD never ended.
We did kill Castro. Eleven times.
Roswell was nothing.
And.
You don’t know about all this without having read a book called Fun with America.
