Nothing exciting ever happens in Arcadia, a sleepy little town outside Savannah. That is until sleazy, philandering, no-good Gio Pazelli is killed in his home.
Right away, Judith Fox knows exactly how the investigation is going to go down. Her young friend Maria is smack-dab in the middle of the mess, and Judith will use all her considerable resources to protect both the girl and her reputation. She persuades the mayor to enlist FBI agent Jake Hunt as an advisor on the investigation.
Jake is tired of being a cop, and this case is a perfect example of why. He has no real reason to be in Arcadia. There are no real suspects and very few clues. And this bossy woman has no business inserting herself into a murder investigation.
After a rocky start, Judith and Jake realize they work well together, they have more in common than either of them expected, and initial impressions can be deceptive. And most surprising of all, there’s an undeniable spark between them.
But first, they need to solve the murder before time runs out for Maria.
