Oh Reader is the only magazine devoted to the love and lifestyle of reading. It acknowledges the deep connection that readers have with their books; it tells stories of discovery, passion, humor and enlightenment found through reading; and it shines a light into every corner of the reading world, sharing insight into the endless array of places that words can take us. A typical issue of Oh Reader might include an interview with a notable reader; a story about how reading has the power to change a life; an ode to the most romantic characters ever committed to the page; a photo essay featuring cats and books; and a tale of travel inspired by a particular book’s setting. Oh Reader won’t ever tell you what you should read, or how you should think; our aim is to encourage and share curiosity, inspiration, and above all a love of words and stories. Oh Reader exists to connect the immense community of book lovers through sharing our common passion, and creating a new way to appreciate books and reading.

Oh Reader is an innovative magazine that appeals to those who love to read. In its design and content, it leans toward a creative and switched-on audience; it is quirky, colorful, minimal and intelligent. Oh Reader’s audience values the simplicity and personal fulfillment of traditional pastimes. They share books with friends; embrace a lifestyle based on the Danish concept of ‘hygge’ (coziness and little pleasures); value long conversations with close friends; are creative and dialed into the arts and current events; and seek inspiration in literature and reading. Oh Reader is distributed at Barnes & Noble, Books A Million, Chapters Indigo, Whole Foods, and other large and independent bookstores and specialty retailers across the United States, Canada, Europe and the United Kingdom. Since its inception, Oh Reader has seen strong subscriber and retail growth. Average retail growth from 2021 to 2022 was 39 percent, and subscription growth was 20 percent, with figures looking to continue trending upward in 2023. Oh Reader has collaborated with Bookshop.org, New York’s The Strand bookstore, Publisher’s Weekly and Reader’s Digest, and will soon be hosting events in the United States and the United Kingdom.
